The DCH Revision Guide

Twelve focused chapters covering the paediatrics the Diploma in Child Health actually tests — the sick child, the newborn, the common systems, safeguarding, and the clinical exam — written for busy clinicians revising in short sessions.

Written by Dr Victoria Hammond, MBBS, BSc (Hons) · NHS GP Partner12 chaptersEach opens with a free preview

Each chapter follows the same shape: why the topic matters in the exam, the core content in short sections, the pitfalls that cost marks, the phrases examiners use as triggers, and a one-line summary you can carry into the hall.

You do not have to read it in order. Start with the chapter that worries you most, then practise the same material as questions — retrieval, not re-reading, is what makes it stick.

Red flags and safeguarding run through every chapter. The DCH rewards candidates who recognise the seriously unwell child and who never lose sight of the child's welfare. If you learn nothing else, learn those two things well.
