The DRCOG Revision Guide
Twelve focused chapters covering the women’s health you need for the Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists — written for GPs and GP trainees, grounded in current UK guidance.
The DRCOG is one three-hour computer-based paper of 120 single-best-answer (SBA) questions, sat at a Pearson VUE test centre. There are no EMQs and no short answers — every question gives you a stem, a lead-in and five options, and asks for the one best answer.
That format rewards a particular kind of preparation. You are not being asked to recall everything about a topic; you are being asked to choose between five plausible options, usually under time pressure of about ninety seconds a question. The questions are written around the RCOG’s seven syllabus modules and are pitched at the level of a competent GP: what would you do, in a UK setting, with this woman in front of you today?
These twelve chapters map onto those modules. Each one takes the same shape — why the topic matters in the exam, the core content, the pitfalls that catch candidates out, the phrases that act as triggers, and a one-line summary you can carry into the test centre.
How to use this guide. Read a chapter, then test yourself on it. Passive reading feels productive and rarely is. Working through questions on the same topic within a day or two is what makes the content stick.
