The DGM is now two separate exams — this bank is for the written one

The Royal College of Physicians has split geriatric medicine into two credentials, and it changes what you need to revise. The Certificate (CGM) is the written knowledge exam and comes first. The Diploma (DGM) is now a live clinical OSCE that you can only sit once you have passed the CGM. This question bank is built for the CGM knowledge exam. It will sharpen the reasoning the OSCE also rewards, but stations are a practical assessment — you will want supervised clinical practice for those, not a question bank.

Stage 1 — CGM200 best-of-five questions in four papers of 50, 90 minutes each, sat online with proctoring from wherever you are.
Stage 2 — DGMA four-station live OSCE of 80 minutes at the RCP Assessment Centre in Liverpool. RCP fee £642 for the November 2026 diet and £668 for the June and November 2027 diets.
24 February 2027The next CGM sitting. Applications run 14 December 2026 to 18 January 2027; results 31 March 2027.
9–11 November 2026The next DGM OSCE, for those who already hold the CGM (applications close 14 September 2026); then 1–4 June 2027, applications 30 March–12 April 2027, and 2–5 November 2027, applications 31 August–13 September 2027.

What you’ll cover

Fourteen subject areas across older-adult medicine

Revise a module at a time with instant feedback, or sit a timed mock under exam conditions. Our mock mirrors one CGM paper — 50 questions in 90 minutes — so the pacing is exactly what you meet on the day; the full knowledge exam is four of these papers, 200 questions in all.

Eligibility, fees, formats and dates are set by the Royal College of Physicians, in collaboration with the British Geriatrics Society, and can change — always check the RCP’s own CGM and DGM pages before you apply. The CGM requires at least two years’ post-qualification experience including four months working with older people. Core Revision is an independent educational platform and is not affiliated with the RCP or the BGS.
